Congratulations to Claire Healy and Sean Cordeiro who are presenting a new major work at the FLIGHT exhibition, at the Casula Powerhouse, from 21st January to the 11th June, 2023.
The exhibition focusses on air travel, aviation, aerodynamics and the freedoms and perils that flight promises. It is simultaneously celebratory and critical, excited about the return of flight yet concerned about its ongoing impact on the environment.
Claire and Sean’s large “Kite” work is built out of two repurposed plane wings from a Beechcraft twin bonanza. Simulating a kite, the work questions the differences between kite flying vs plane flying in an evolving aviation sphere. Ultimately the work aims to re-focus on the here and now, like the experience of flying a kite.
